Design

Corrosion Monitoring Sensor consists of a unit with indicators, a connector and a cable. The connector has a memory chip where input and current information, which is necessary to calculate the corrosion rate and to identify the device, is stored. Spaces between the indicating elements in a one-piece steel case are different in their depth. They are filled with non-conducting dry capillary-porous material. Metal electrodes are put into the spaces, these electrodes are connected to separate terminals of the plug connection with the conductors. A plug connection connects the sensor with the analyzer or with a pipeline. An analyzer together with the corrosion sensor displays the corrosion rate and depth. The values for these parameters are considered to be the starting ones from the date when the sensor is installed.

Features

Total corrosion and its rate are assessed through monitoring the sensor’s elements by the analyzer. Sensor IKP is sacrificial, that is it is not restored and repaired. The operating principle of the device is based on the corrosive damage of the sensor’s elements, therefore with high soil aggressivity it can be damaged before the service life period stated in the datasheet.
