Installation Guidelines For Test Stations

Инструкции по монтажу контрольно-измерительных пунктов Two mobile teams from EHZ-CENTER perform construction, assembly, installation and commissioning of the equipment for electrochemical protection sites. Electrochemical protection system is designed on the basis of regulatory documents, company's standards, SNiP, GOST and other technical standards documentation. Test stations KIP stated in electrochemical protection projects control the quality of the protection against corrosion of the underground metallic constructions. KIP consists of boxes with boards and terminals, cable connection nodes, cables for measurements and connections. The design of a tests station for a particular site depends on its purpose, and the terminal board depends on the number of commutating cables.

KIP is mounted in the following places at the protected main pipelines (MT):

  • linear parts;
  • crossing points:
  • crossing points with communication cables, high voltage electricity transmission lines, electric vehicle rails;
  • near water crossings, highways and railway roads from both sides from the crossing points with pipelines;
  • at grounding anodes;
  • sites of protection system installation;
  • insulating joints;
  • underground crossing points with neighboring structures and the ones not in the system of shared protection;
  • points of cable connection with a pipeline from cathodic protection system;
  • ends of the specified protection zones;
  • points of maximum proximity to grounding anode which is mounted outside the channel limits.
KIP Installation Guidelines describe the measures to organize and to perform the works, contain the recommendations on acceptance, quality control, professional safety requirements. The Guidelines are prepared to ensure the quality and safety of the works with soil, commissioning works, to reduce the labor costs, to shorten the installation time for a test station and to standardize the technologies.

The works include:

  • site demarcation;
  • trenching;
  • pulling the cable to SKIP;
  • mounting a stand in a trench and burying it with soil in layers with further compacting the soil;
  • connecting cables to KIP terminals;
  • connecting reference electrodes;
  • labeling the cables;
  • writing KIP number in paint;
  • securing the soil around the stands at 1 m radius.
